Applications for the Paycheck Protection Program can be submitted starting Friday, April 3rd. Businesses can get up to 2.5 times monthly payroll as a forgivable loan – meaning that when this program is used as designed the money is really a grant. There are a few restrictions. For example: when calculating monthly total salary, the maximum annual salary for each employee that can be included is $100k; businesses have to pay out the borrowed money in salaries rents or utilities over the following two months. Available now, the EIDL program offers an emergency advance of up to $10,000 (which maybe forgivable) and larger loans based on need. Companies with under 500 employees that don’t operate in certain prohibited business categories (gambling, sex, drugs, etc.).
