Information is coming in fast and from all directions concerning loans for small businesses from several Federal Government programs. We’ve filtered through the noise to provide you with actionable information on the 3 most popular programs:


Paycheck Protection Program

Forgivable short-term loan designed to help keep employees on the payroll even if they aren’t going to work.


Economic Injury Disaster Loans

Simplified application, SBA, low interest loans for up to $2,000,000. Payments can be deferred for up a year.


Small Business Debt Relief Program

For businesses with existing SBA 7(a), 504 or microloans payments can be forgiven for up to 6 months.

PPP Loans

Applications for the Paycheck Protection Program can be submitted starting Friday, April 3rd. Businesses can get up to 2.5 times monthly payroll as a forgivable loan – meaning that when this program is used as designed the money is really a grant. There are a few restrictions. For example: when calculating monthly total salary, the maximum annual salary for each employee that can be included is $100k; businesses have to pay out the borrowed money in salaries rents or utilities over the following two months. These loans will be administered by local banks that are approved by the SBA. Additional information is attached.

EIDL loans

Available now, the EIDL program offers an emergency advance of up to $10,000 (which maybe forgivable) and larger loans based on need. Companies with under 500 employees that don’t operate in certain prohibited business categories (gambling, sex, drugs, etc.).


Small Business Debt Relief

Not a new program. This debt relief is a new feature that has just been added to existing SBA loans which allows forgiveness of payment for six months. To clarify, the SBA will make your principal and interest payments for six months.
